Father Padilla's Cross This cross was a gift to the People of Kansas by the Knights of Columbus of the State of Kansas and was erected in 1950. It is in memory of Father Juan Padilla, a Franciscan missionary who stood with Coronado, the Spanish conquistador, at the erection of the first Christian Cross on the Kansas Prairies.
