It is the City Administrator's job is to make sure the policy decisions made by the City Council are carried out and that public services are delivered efficiently and effectively.
The City Administrator is responsible for:
Making recommendations to the Council, which the Council may accept, reject, or modify
Implementing any action taken by the Council
Making budget recommendations to the City Council
Overseeing nearly all aspects of City Administration

The City of Lyons offers information on historically flooding such as site specific past flood locations and high water marks throughout City of Lyons and just outside of city limits. A representative from the City of Lyons can make site visits, as needed, to your home or property to review flooding, drainage, and sewer problems and can provide one-on-one advice to a property owner regarding flooding and drainage issues on private property. The City of Lyons offer advice and assistance with structural and non-structural flood protection, retrofitting and mitigation measures, including flood insurance. We have contacts for inquires on financial assistance through Rice County, the Kansas Department of Commerce and the Kansas Department of Emergency Management. We do have contacts with staff from Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Kansas Department of Agriculture’s Division of Water Resources when more assistance is needed.
