Memorial Day at the Lyons Municipal Cemetery

Cemetary Grounds

The staff of the Lyons Municipal Cemetery takes pride in providing a clean and peaceful sanctuary for families and their loved ones.

Our staff takes a great deal of pride in their facility and it shows. Each year the members of the Cemetery Department spend many hours mowing, trimming, irrigating, and otherwise maintaining the buildings and grounds.

Cemetery Decoration Policies
Any fresh cut or artificial flowers may be placed on or adjacent to graves at any time except during the two scheduled clean ups per year.  The first clean up will be in mid March lasting three days.  The second will be approximately two weeks after Memorial Day lasting three days.  Notification of clean ups will be placed in the local newspaper and on the city cable TV channel prior to the dates.  April 1st to November 1st is mowing season and any flowers or decorations in the way of mowing and trimming will be moved.  Flowers and decorations placed in vases or attached to headstones will not be moved.

The sexton is authorized to remove and dispose of any wilted cut flowers and any artificial flowers or decorations that have become broken or faded in order to prevent littering of the cemetery grounds.

We are here to answer any questions or concerns you may have to better serve you and your loved ones. Call us at (620)-257-3981 with your questions.
